Be a part of the uplifting team of volunteers at Culpeper Food Closet even if you have some mobility issues.  Repackers move food  from large bags/packs, to individual servings in ziplock bags.  This can be done from a standing or seated position.  

Food Givers at Culpeper Food Closet interact with clients and review the Master Grocery List and specialty items available and then custom pack the food available in our 2000 sq. foot warehouse.  It's an opportunity for transformation as both the giver and receiver are uplifted by the connection and sharing of good healthy food. 

Being a part of the Procurement team means to help load food onto and off of trucks as food is picked up from grocery stores and unloaded and shelved at Culpeper Food Closet.  This opportunity requires lifting up to 40 pound boxes for short periods of time and standing for up to 2 hours.  Be part of this vital team that gets food into the Culpeper Food Closet and on the shelves for clients to receive. 

We're looking for a compassionate and skilled American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter to help us ensure ever guest, including those who are deaf and hard of hearing, can fully participate and receive the care they need.  Your support will make ar real difference in helping us provide accessable care to all. Do you have 4 hours a week to share? The Fauquier Historical Society is seeking friendly, dependable volunteers to assist in the Gift Shop at the Old Jail Museum in Warrenton.

We’re open Wednesday through Monday and need help greeting visitors, processing admissions, and keeping an eye on gift shop activity. Volunteers must be 18 or older, and training and a background check are required.

We have in Fauquier County a host of Historic Members of Fauquier's Society and Veteran Graves, located in remote family plots throughout the county.

These Veterans range from the Revolution in 1776, War of 1812, Spanish American War, Civil War, WWI, and even a few from WWII.

The Foundation is seeking Individuals, or Families that will adopt a veterans site, visit it at least twice a year, and mow or do the necessary yard work to keep the cemetery in good order, and notify the Foundation if the site is threatened or there has been damaged by any source.

Members from the Foundation will meet with you and explain what to look for when visiting and what should be done, based on the variables of each site.

Once you have agreed on the adoption,  a reporting schedule will be set and all future visits are on your own time, reporting to the foundation when competed and condition of the site. (Photos welcome)

Remington Community Garden - the best kept secret in Southern Fauquier! We manage 1.5 acres of beautiful garden plots, an herb garden, pollinator bed, frog pond, flowers, shrubs, berries, fruit trees, grape vines and native trees. Upkeep on that variety of horticulture requires a mammoth effort to prepare all the spaces for winter. We can use your help!

Prescription Pickup: As a prescription pickup volunteer, you’ll pick up medications from local pharmacies and deliver them to members who can’t easily get there themselves.

Drive to Appointments & Events: As a volunteer, you’ll provide safe, reliable transportation for seniors to medical appointments, wellness visits, and community events.

Different Driving Options:

Use your own car to provide friendly, one-on-one rides for everyday needs like medical appointments, errands, or social outings.

Drive our mini-bus for scheduled group trips or special community events—perfect if you enjoy a social, team-oriented atmosphere.

Whether working behind the scenes or supporting programs directly, these roles are essential to our success. Here’s a list work done in this area:

Board and Committee Work: Serve as a leader and advisor by joining our Board of Directors or one of our committees. These roles help guide the mission, programs, and priorities of our organization. Ideal for those with experience or interest in leadership, planning, or community outreach.

Administrative Mailings: Assist with preparing and sending mailings such as newsletters, event invitations, and informational packets. It’s a simple but important task that helps us stay in touch with members and supporters. Most of the work is done in groups—often with coffee, conversation, and a great sense of camaraderie.

Making Phone Calls:  Occasionally we have some repetitive phone calls to make.  We provide the content, and volunteers can make the calls, either from home or our office.

Join The Piedmont Environmental Council for a Plantings for the Piedmont volunteer tree planting on Friday, October 10th, at Chancellors Rock Farm in Flint Hill, VA.  Volunteers are needed for two shifts, morning and afternoon.  Together, we will plant approximately 275 native trees in support of this working farm's commitment to conserve and protect the waterways that flow through their acreage and on to the Chesapeake Bay.

Morning shift: 9 AM - 12 PM

Afternoon shift: 12:30 - 3 PM

Volunteer activities include tree planting, which involves scalping (removing grass with a hoe), digging holes, planting, and pounding wooden stakes. If you sign up for an afternoon shift, an additional activity might include quality control checks of the planted areas, watering newly planted trees, or similar tasks.   We also need 1 photographer for each shift to document our success.

These positions require fluent English and Spanish.

**Pantry Volunteers:** Help clients during our free-choice pantry hours on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to Noon. Would you like to assist our patients in selecting healthy food from our Food Pantry?  Find recipes using food from our garden and from the pantry? Are you into composting? 

This position is a bit of this and that - It may involve bagging produce, helping us start small-scale recycling, organizing the pantry - along with tasks that we haven't even thought of yet.

You will never have a dull moment here!

The hours are flexible - you could come in one day a week, or two mornings, two afternoons, etc.  Currently, we have a need for afternoons if possible.

Spanish would be helpful when working with our patients - if not, we have a computer service that you can learn to use to translate a live conversation.

Our Free Clinic gets a once-a-month Friday delivery from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (usually the third Friday) that volunteers will unload and restock the shelves in our patient food pantry. It usually takes less than 3 hours, depending upon the number of volunteers we have. You can work inside opening boxes of food and restocking the shelves, or if you don't mind a bit of heavier lifting, you can move boxes of food from the pallet onto a cart.  

We are a fun bunch at the clinic and would love a few more volunteers!

The Culpeper Young Professionals mission is to create a platform for members to build relationships, develop professional skills, and contribute to the local community. The purpose of the Annual Crab Feast is to raise funds specifically for the chosen annual project to fulfill our mission to contribute to the local community and provide funding for our networking and social programs throughout the year. Each January, the Young Professional Advisory Council reviews local non-profits and community projects, deciding by vote the focus of our fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Culpeper Chamber Young Professionals: Young Professionals 16th Annual Charity Crab Feast 9.12.25

We allow volunteers for all ages to help at our adoption events. We don’t have an actual shelter as we use only foster homes, but we always need handlers for leashed dogs and puppy pen watchers at our adoption events and occasionally for special event.  Adoptions are usually held on Saturdays from 12-3 at Weber’s Pet Supermarket in Chantilly,

A Forever Home (AFH) is a foster-based rescue. We are looking for loving families to care for dogs or pups to help them find that special place called home. We provide equipment, medical care, food, and, if needed, training to foster families and their dogs. SAFE is seeking volunteers to help design and build a covered sandbox for the children's play area at our emergency shelter. This project will provide a safe, clean space for children to play, supporting healing through joyful and creative play in a protected environment. We’re looking for individuals or groups with experience in construction, carpentry, or outdoor projects. Materials can be provided by SAFE, or volunteers may contribute supplies if they choose. Your time and talents will make a lasting impact for the children we serve.

Join us in getting your hands dirty for a good cause! The Piedmont Environmental Council’s Community Farm at Roundabout Meadows needs volunteers to help grow and harvest fresh produce for Clarke and Loudoun food pantries in our 2025 season. While you help your community you’ll learn more about the local food system and maybe even pick up a few tips on growing your own fruits and veggies.

Volunteer opportunities for 2025 will begin in late March/early April and continue throughout the growing season. We have multiple opportunities per week during the peak season (June-September) and offer one Saturday per month. Due to the food pantry’s availability to pick up produce, the majority of time slots are during the week. Volunteer opportunities are announced via email to all volunteers who have signed up.

Volunteering is great for team-building! We are happy to coordinate School Field Trips, Corporate, and Group (e.g. scouts,clubs,faith-based organizations) volunteer days for groups of fifteen or more.

We’re seeking volunteers to help with removing old furniture, cleaning outdoor play areas, and reorganizing storage spaces at our shelters.

As a Virginia CARES Program Intern, students will support the reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals by assisting with program intake, case management, employment readiness, and administrative coordination. Interns will gain experience in social services, workforce development, and data management while working closely with clients and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform initial intake, enrollment, and data entry in the Virginia CARES database

Maintain accurate and complete participant files (physical and digital)

Provide information, referrals, and general support to program participants

Assist with employment counseling, resume building, and job readiness classes

Build and maintain relationships with employers and community resources

Facilitate job placement efforts and assist clients with employment documentation, transportation, and clothing needs

Conduct follow-up with participants and employers to track job retention

PATH Resource Center's role in the community is to help Non-Profit businesses build capacity and success toward their  mission.  In this effort, we are looking for community members who possess skills in the area of marketing to provide coaching services on demand, for our non-profit businesses. 

This role is ideal for an experienced marketing professional who is passionate about using their skills to make a social impact and enjoys mentoring others. The Marketing Coach will provide guidance in the areas of overall marketing strategy, branding, and messaging, best practices for digital marketing, email campaigns, and social media, offer feedback on marketing materials and communications, and serve as a thought partner for key initiatives and campaigns.

During this shift, you'll help open the store at 9:00 AM by unlocking the doors, turning on lights, and making sure the space is tidy and ready for guests. Throughout your time, you’ll assist with sorting and processing donations, checking items for cleanliness and quality before placing them out for shoppers. As guests arrive, our volunteers greet them warmly, help them find what they need, and offer assistance with bags if needed. During slower moments, volunteers fold, organize, and restock as needed. Before closing, you will straighten up displays, return items to their proper places, and take out any trash or clothing that still needs to be sorted. Your help will ensure a smooth, welcoming, and respectful experience for all who walk through our doors.

Family Shelter Services is looking for support in facility maintenance and upkeep from hanging blinds, cleaning and organizing to minor repairs, carpentry and painting walls. Opportunities based on your time limitations and ability. Support is needed at both our Temporary Shelter in Warrenton and Transitional Housing Community in Vint Hill.

Sharing food is a powerful act of community. Family Shelter Services depends on volunteers and community support to donate and prepare meals for our families. Several ways to help with food:

- Community can prepare a potluck style meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner and drop off/serve. (Youth groups, Adult Ministries, Clubs, Families, Sororities, School groups, Local businesses)

- Providing a "sack" meal like breakfast or lunch and drop off.

- Cook a meal onsite.

- Sponsor a shelter dinner with a local restaurant, like pizza!

We are in need of volunteers for "Teaching Moments" with our children while their parents attend our weekly life skills class. This is an opportunity to engage with children in ways such as planned group activities. It's only for an hour every week. The need for our shelter location is on Wednesdays from 6pm-7pm and at our Vint Hill Transitional location on Thursdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm. This is a wonderful way to give back or earn community service hours all year round.

Spiritual Care Support Ministries provides faith-based education, training, counseling and spiritual support for those who are ill, dying, grieving, experiencing personal loss, and for those who journey with them. Our loss counseling services, spiritual retreats, Inspirational studies, divorce and grief support groups in Warrenton, Virginia give people strength, hope, and enduring faith during many of the most difficult times of their lives. We are proud to provide this invaluable support, whether it is through a dedicated support group, individualized counseling services, community events, spiritual guidance or simply lending a listening ear.

We are in need of licensed or lay counselors for our ministry, to meet the growing need in our community. The group is currently meeting on the third Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 11:30 am. We try to provide a guest speaker and topics for discussion; however, the leader of the group would eventually be responsible for the content and guidance of the group. 

Spiritual Care Support Ministries provides support and education with a Biblical perspective to those who are ill, dying, grieving, and experiencing personal losses, and to those who journey with them. 

We are in need of volunteers that can help with various projects. Examples include:

The Care-A-Van is our transport service that transports dogs and cats to our clinic partners for low-cost spay/neuter services. The cost of these services is offered to our community on a sliding scale, based on income. We do three transports per month one for dogs, one for cats and one for cats from our trap/neuter/release cat colonies.

Oak Spring Garden Foundation will welcome volunteers to the Biocultural Garden, located inside the historic walled garden. You are invited to join us! Volunteers participate in growing heirloom vegetable crops for seed saving, and gathering plant materials for our LEO team (Local Education & Outreach). These materials include fiber plants, natural dye plants, medicinal herbs, and flowers for drying. 

Volunteer duties will change with the season. We begin with planting and establishing beds, continue with light weeding, pruning and trellising tomatoes, harvesting flowers and plant material, and conclude the season with seed processing and storage. In the 2025 season, our seed saving focus will be on heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, and dry beans.

The demand for dental care at the Free Clinic continues to increase and we can use additional professional support. Current license required.

Assist patrons who want to learn how to use their electronic devices and/or computers.  Flexible hours: Two hours per week, Mon - Fri. Once response received, staff will determine timing.
