Help turn rescued local food into healthy meals for our community. Feeding 500 is a hands-on volunteer event at the Carver Food Enterprise Center where volunteers work alongside staff and job training participants to transform surplus or hard-to-use produce into nutritious, ready-to-eat meals for local food pantry partners. In a typical event, volunteers spend about three hours washing, chopping, cooking, packaging, and labeling meals that would otherwise go to waste. Since launching, the program has rescued thousands of pounds of food and created thousands of servings for community members while reducing food waste and increasing access to healthy food. No professional cooking experience needed, just a willingness to help, learn, and make a difference. Come be part of turning local abundance into community impact.
Events are typically held on the first and third Wednesday from 9 AM - 12 PM, but occassionally occur at different times to process last minute donations. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up to learn more about upcoming opportunities at: https://www.gwcfec.org/feeding500
