Fauquier County's Fourth Annual Juneteenth Community Commemoration will take place on Saturday June 15, 2024 from 11 am to 8 pm on Main Street in Warrenton VA. Rain date is Saturday, June 22. We will honr and celebrate Juneteenth, as well as highlight the African culture and experience. The day will include an African dance troupe, spoken word, contests to highlight Juneteenth's history and cultural experiences, a presentation of Black History through the lens of the Afro American Historical Association of Fauquier County, highlighting community events along with recognition of local heroes. We will host a number of children's activities, and products, goods, and service will be provided by vendors and other local businesses. It takes many to support this event and we hope you will consider signing up for one of the volunteer needs listed below!
We need morning larks to open up and night owls to close down! Here are brief descriptions for the sign-ups below.
6:30- 9:30 AM - Set-up Crew I: tents, equipment, and help the vendors,
9:00- 11:30 AM - Set-up Crew II: help the vendors get situated
4:00- 6:00 & 6:00- 8:00 PM - Breakdown: help Juneteenth activities pack up and carry equipment to vehicles
8:00- 10:00 PM- Evening Final Breakdown: leave the streets and sidewalks clear and ready for traffic!
