Description

We need your help to control Autumn Olive in our fields! This invasive, exotic species provides very poor wildlife habitat and crowds out native plants. We have a grant to do prescribed burns, chainsawing, and bush-hogging to manage our shrub fields this winter, but we are trying to eliminate as much Autumn Olive as possible beforehand to minimize re-sprouting. Last year we were able to eliminate Autumn Olive from 10 acres of the Turkey Gap field. This year we are focusing on the Upper Woodcock, Lower Woodcock, and Blantyre fields. Once we have Autumn Olive under control it will be much easier to maintain the fields with regular bush-hogging and prescribed fire.

We have saws, loppers, and glyphosate. If you are comfortable using a chainsaw, feel free to bring your own. Additional bow saws and loppers may also come in handy.

Thank you for your help with this satisfying and important work!
