Join Friends of the Rappahannock for a day of planting native trees in Culpeper on Thursday, March 18!

Volunteers will be needed from 9:30am – 2:30pm for planting native tree seedlings (scalping, digging holes, planting, and pounding stakes).

All volunteers will be required to sign a volunteer waiver to participate. Please email your completed waiver to October at october.greenfield@riverfriends.org by Wednesday, March 17th at 3pm. There will be additional copies available to sign upon arrival.

FOR will provide all of the necessary tools for planting as well as snacks and extra water.

Native trees help our environment and our community in numerous ways, including:
Sequester carbon to improve air quality
Regulate temperatures in our urban environments
Increase property values in our neighborhoods
Catch and filter polluted stormwater before it enters our local streams
Stabilize soils and stream banks preventing erosion
Provide valuable forage and habitat for fish and wildlife
