Continuing in our annual tradition of sprucing up RAWL for our volunteers, clients and dogs.
This year, in conjunction with Earth Day on April 22, RAWL will be completing the following:
1) Sprucing up the Emily Hilscher Memorial garden by adding no dig fencing to surround the garden. This will create a nice area for prospective adopters to meet RAWL dogs in a secure environment outside the facility. An additional bench or other seating arrangement will be acquired.
2) Cleaning up this special garden, adding native plants and mulching.
3) Adding Cypress trees to the perimeter of the RAWL property that lines the landfill driveway to create a buffer from constant landfill traffic. This fenced lawn area is used for routine training of RAWL dogs as well as for staging several small events - trick training and an annual community trail challenge for canines and their families.
4) Planting sunflowers throughout all RAWL's dog areas, to brighten the facility for all who visit, and work in conjunction with "Sustainability Matters", the wildflower planting effort in landfill areas.
Refreshments will be available for volunteers - and opportunities to walk RAWL's extensive trails.
