House Prep: Before each “Willing Warrior” family arrives, our team of 5 to 8 volunteers cleans the SOWW Warrior Retreat, a 5 bedroom, 9 bathroom home for their stay.  You are not just cleaning a house, you are cleaning a home…a weeklong sanctuary for our “Willing Warriors”, their families, and friends.  It gives them a warm and inviting place to escape from the worries and stress of recovery, and gives them a place to reconnect with their family and friends, enjoying each other’s company away from a hospital setting. House prep is a unique opportunity as we have the chance to meet our willing warrior guests as they are checking out of the retreat on House Prep day.  This is a wonderful chance to give back to your community and personally thank service members and their families for all they have sacrificed for our country. House Prep is a wonderful way to begin your involvement with the retreat and meet other amazing volunteers! This group meets every Wednesday morning (9:30AM to 12:00PM) to clean and prepare the house for our next Warrior and their family. Any amount of time you would like to volunteer is welcome.

Remington Community Garden is looking for folks interested in joining a watering, weeding, harvesting support team. We have over 160 vegetable plants in our community plots that need consistent watering this summer. These plants are used to provide fresh vegetables for our Little Free Veggie Wagon and given away to those with food insecurity in the Remington Community.

As the summer progresses, we will also be harvesting produce 2-3 times a week.

Volunteers will be paired with an experienced Master Gardener. Each volunteer will be scheduled once a week for about 2 hours. Days and times are flexible.

The preparation for our 2024 Summer Camp is almost complete!  We have over 130 local children registered to attend camp this year!

Cats make terrible drivers. We rely on humans to take them to vet appointments or fosters. You must have your own transportation that has heat and AC for the extreme temperatures and it should be able to fit several cages. As we are  a non-profit  501c3 organization,  you would be entitled to claim a mileage tax deduction on your tax return.  While most of these locations are in the Culpeper/Flint Hill area, we frequently use clinics in Fauquier, Warren and Prince William Counties.

Assist staff with Loan Closet functions such as answering phones, greeting customers, and coordinating equipment. Community Support of the Piedmont is need of volunteers to help serve the public with their equipment needs. The Loan Closet is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm.

We are looking for delivery drivers to pack and deliver our care packages to foster families.  Our delivery drivers are "on call" once per month.  If we get a notification that a foster child has been placed in a foster home, we will notify the delivery driver.  The driver will then need to go our storage hub in Manassas and pack a care package that includes new clothing, toys, books, etc and then deliver it to the home of the foster family.  All deliveries from this location are within Prince William and Fauquier counties.

COMPASSIONATE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HOSPICE PATIENTS

Capital Caring Health is seeking Fauquier County volunteers to provide companionship for patients and families of those in hospice care. Volunteers provide companionship, play cards, read books, prepare light meals, run errands and provide respite so the primary caregiver has an opportunity to take a breath and reenergize.

Capital Caring Health is a non-profit health care organization providing care to over 1200 patient daily in Virginia, Maryland and DC; we never turn anyone away based on inability to pay. We are committed to providing compassionate care, and our volunteers are at the core of this mission.

Capital Caring Health is seeking volunteers to visit patients facing a life limiting prognosis. Volunteers visits patients where they call home; residential homes, assisted living or nursing homes throughout Fauquier County. Hospice volunteers will be fully trained and receive the support necessary to be successful. Those who speak other languages, particularly Spanish are especially needed!

Front Desk Volunteers are needed for morning and/or afternoon shifts on Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays. Duties include: opening and/or closing the Museum, greeting and assisting visitors, and carrying out admissions and gift shop transactions.

Did you know that you can volunteer your skills and talents to assist in the event of an emergency? During any disaster or public health emergency, we may require community, public health, and medical personnel that exceeds our available resources.

The Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is comprised of community members and health care professionals who donate their time and skills to support public health initiatives and provide assistance in emergencies. Volunteers can assist in a number of capacities including mass dispensing operations, staffing shelters and providing assistance during exercises or drills.

When we are not responding to emergencies or training to respond to emergeencies we are helping the Virginia Department of Health in public health efforts. There are opportunities to participate in health fairs, wellness checks, CPR classes, opioid awareness, etc.

A Comfort Blanket is a handmade blanket we like to give to children who have a need emotionally and physically. The kids LOVE these and call them "covers"! We also like to give special needs children these blankets as well as children going through some tough emotional situations. 

The blankets are handmade and prayed over. When we give them to a child, we are giving them something covered in prayers, we hope and pray if finds them comfort in the situation they may be in. It is also something that they can call their own.

Capture videos for use by The Piedmont Environmental Council. This may include creating videos about specific conservation projects, taking b-roll, interviewing staff and members, or filming special events. Videos will primarily be developed for social media and website integration. 

Prior experience required, intermediate to advanced skill level preferred. This volunteer will need to use their own video equipment. Video editing can be done by or in conjunction with PED staff personnel.

An assistant would allow us to cover multiple events scheduled for the same time.

Location: Filming would fall within PEC’s 9-county region (Albemarle, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock).

The Piedmont Environmental Council is looking for someone to help make cycling more prevalent and more accessible through outreach to local businesses and social bike rides. We will focus on Bike-to-work day (May 19) and Bike-Friendly Business certification, including helping them complete the application and thinking of low-cost ways to make their business more bike-friendly. The volunteer will also assist with occasional community social bike rides..

Jewell Tone's Center for the Arts is looking to add a Fundraising Chair to our Board. We meet every third Tuesday of the month at our Southgate Shopping Plaza location. Our missions is to inspire our community to discover the ability & the passion to create beautiful things. Our focuses include music, art, podcasting, theatre, and outreach to the homeschool community and special needs community. We currently have a theatre club, homeschool chess club, sensory friendly groups, sensory friendly family fun days with local businesses amongst various other outreach efforts. TIME INVOLVEMENT:

Jewell Tone's Center for the Arts hosts a Chess Club on Wednesdays from 1:00-2:15 PM at our Southgate Shopping Plaza location. We have gained a lot of interest in the Chess Club and are looking for an experienced Chess player to help lead the club in the advancement of skills as well as playing tournaments. We currently have (20) students are looking to expand. 

FTCS relies solely on donations and receives no other funding. Our fundraising team plays a vital role in helping our organization maintain the mission of reducing the feral population and providing loving homes for cats and kittens. 

Fundraising events vary, some are in person and others are virtual. You can choose whether you join us for in person events or help us virtually. We always need people requesting donations from businesses, planning events, etc.

The Front Desk Assistants help the front desk staff by escorting patients to different parts of the hospital. They make sure that patients do not get lost in the hospital and may be asked to help assist registration with different tasks to make the day go smoother. Seeking one person to co-lead this effort with me for Fauquier County.

Fauquier ESL provides classes for adults at a low cost.  Classes are held at Warrenton Baptist Church 123 Main Street Warrenton, Va.  We currently have classes for students of all levels of English skill from beginners to advanced.  We hold classes on Monday night from 6:30 to 8:30 and on Friday Night from 7:00 to 9:00.  We are in need of instructors to serve during our upcoming term starting in February 2023.  ZOOM based training is provided.  

You do NOT need to speak a language other than English in order to be an instructor.  Many instructors have classroom experience but some of our best volunteers have never taught before. Classes provide instruction as well as Christian education.  Many new volunteers start as teacher assistants before becoming a lead instructor. We also have opportunities for snack coordinators, classroom setup and IT support.

Independence Empowerment Center (IEC) is a Center for Independent Living as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. IEC provides services enabling adults and children with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives, determine their own lifestyle, participate in all aspects of society, and secure their human and civil rights. IEC also provides a means for consumer control and policy direction of the service delivery systems affecting people with disabilities.

Governance:  IEC is organized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by its members and a member-elected Board of Directors. Individuals on the Board serve three-year terms and (by directive) at least one-half of the Board must be comprised of people with disabilities. The Board elects officers including President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Formal Board activity includes an annual membership meeting, regular Board meetings, and Committee work (Executive, Personnel, and Finance). At the discretion of the Board President on an as-needed basis, special meetings are called, or ad hoc committees formed. The Board currently meets on a bi-monthly basis on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 4:00 PM in person at IEC’s offices in Manassas or virtually. Directors and officers serve without compensation. 

Roles and Responsibilities:  The Board is the oversight body that is legally responsible for IEC’s operation. The Board has a fiduciary responsibility to provide accountability and transparency to the community by ensuring that the center is operating legally and effectively within its corporate framework. 

The Board develops policy, establishes long-range plans, attracts resources, advises the Executive Director on procedures to maintain a safe and productive work environment, and ensures financial stability. Specific responsibilities include tax filings, audits, annual reports, and insurance decisions. 

The Board hires, supervises, and evaluates an Executive Director. Though the Board has oversight responsibility for IEC, it is not normally involved in its day-to-day activities. The Board communicates with staff through the Executive Director. 

In addition to the Board’s legal and fiduciary role, Board members share in other responsibilities including IEC’s growth and development. Each Board member contributes her/his unique perspectives and skill sets to direct and operate IEC effectively and efficiently, advocates for its constituents and their rights, increases IEC’s visibility in the communities it serves, and maintains and develops funding sources.

Requirements and Qualifications:  IEC relies on its Board members for clear direction and long-term success and sustainability. In part, success requires placing people with a keen interest in serving the greater good in key board positions who can assist in setting goals and performance objectives; develop, implement, and execute a strategic plan and aids the Executive Director in guiding the overall management and administration of the organization.

Once per year we provide a 15-week training that starts in January and runs until the end of April. We train volunteers in many different horticulture related topics. Some of the training is outdoors. When the training is completed, new volunteers contribute 50 hours on various programs in the community over the next year. Summer Announcement: Donated firewood is cut, split, stacked, and delivered to struggling Fauquier County residents every Saturday morning at the Warrenton Baptist Church property, The Gathering Place, behind Brumfield Elementary on Alwington Boulevard in Warrenton, VA.  No special skills are needed.  If you have an axe or maul, please bring them.  Gloves are strongly encouraged.  Social distancing is available as we work outside in a large area.  Pickup trucks with willing drivers are especially needed.  We hope to see you any Saturday morning between 8:00 and 10:00 am!

Help us rescue homeless cats!!  We operate a cage-free, no-kill cat shelter in Flint Hill, VA. We need folks to help us:

We have two shifts per day, morning and afternoon, and hours are flexible.  A shift normally takes 1-2 hours to complete. Young people under 18 welcome with adult supervision.

A new case of child abuse or neglect enters the court system once every few days. When these children come from the Hispanic/Latino Community, they are at an extreme disadvantage; there are not enough Spanish speaking CASA volunteers to help ensure that these children receive the same care, and attention as other child victims of abuse.

CASA Children’s Intervention Services recruits and trains volunteers to investigate a child's situation and to advocate for the best interests of the child in court. We seek volunteers fluent in both English and Spanish to close the language gap and make sure our Hispanic children grow up in safe and permanent homes. No prior experience in child welfare or the law is required.

Looking for an individual with extensive fundraising knowledge who is interested in volunteering with our organization to create positive cash flow to fund our programs. Tasks will include the below.

In our effort to match community talent with the needs of our non-profit community, PATH is always looking for skilled volunteers who wish to share their time. 

The position of PATH Resource Center Communications Coach will assist nonprofits and local governament agencies with creating effective commuincation strategies through messaging, sotry telling and core presenting, writing and editing skills. 

Organizations in need of such services will notify the PATH Resource Center staff.  Staff will coordinate with volunteer for available session dates. 

Upon completion of background check and response to this opportunity, someone will be in touch to forward you an application and to set up an interview.

This is a unique team that will be working outside the meeting time frames recruiting speakers they feel have a testimony to share of their recovery. Speaker guidelines will be given to the team of recruiters to accurately reach those who are in recovery and want to share their story. Coordinating speakers will require minimal administrative work in the way of scheduling. 

Hours for this opportunity will vary between 2-4 hours a month on average. Hours will include email/phone correspondence or in person/virtual meetings with potential RESTORE speakers. An interview will be done with any and all potential speakers to be sure they fit the guidelines of RESTORE Culpeper's ministry.

This is a special team of individuals that will intercede for our RESTORE Culpeper ministry. We believe that nothing happens apart from prayer and we need believers to come alongside this ministry to pray for all aspects of our entire team; leadership, individual teams, overall direction of RESTORE Culpeper ministry, “alter” prayers and for those attending these weekly meetings.

Hours will vary month to month depending on prayer needs.
