The position of PATH Resource Center Communications Coach will assist nonprofits and local governament agencies with creating effective commuincation strategies through messaging, sotry telling and core presenting, writing and editing skills. 

Organizations in need of such services will notify the PATH Resource Center staff.  Staff will coordinate with volunteer for available session dates.

This is a unique team that will be working outside the meeting time frames recruiting speakers they feel have a testimony to share of their recovery. Speaker guidelines will be given to the team of recruiters to accurately reach those who are in recovery and want to share their story. Coordinating speakers will require minimal administrative work in the way of scheduling. 

Hours for this opportunity will vary between 2-4 hours a month on average. Hours will include email/phone correspondence or in person/virtual meetings with potential RESTORE speakers. An interview will be done with any and all potential speakers to be sure they fit the guidelines of RESTORE Culpeper's ministry.

This is a special team of individuals that will intercede for our RESTORE Culpeper ministry. New Baltimore Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company in Warrenton, Virginia, is always seeking new members interested in firefighting or emergency medical services.  Active, participating members will receive free training and uniforms, and are required to serve a few hours of duty per month.  The firestation is a welcoming, friendly environment where we can train as well as respond to 911 calls.  

This position creates and keeps up with social media and website.  Must be MAC oriented.  

This position could also be done from home with flexible hours.

Our support members are the backbone of our department. Support members assist with the countless hours of office work and behind the scenes effort that goes into the function of the department. These members are encouraged to participate in anything from fundraising to helping with paperwork to working in the thrift shop run by the auxiliary. In many ways our support staff are the ones who make it possible for our firefighters and EMS personnel to do their jobs. 

Our support member category is very accommodating in terms of who can participate and what that person can do. We have members who write grants, file state and federal reports, participate in our monthly fundraising events such as dinners and breakfasts, maintain our website and Facebook page, perform maintenance on the trucks and buildings, and work at the thrift shop selling clothes. Anyone is capable of volunteering with our department through this membership class. No one is expected to have experience we are more than happy to provide any training needed. 

WAAAG gets a good deal of press, but we need folks who have experience reaching out to media. We are looking for people who can write and distribute press releases, newsletters, etc.

Grants and fundraising have been a huge help in funding our projects and programs. However, grant writing takes time in gathering information and tracking statistics and should be someone who is familiar with both budgets and financial statements. You will be trained and mentored through the learning process. This is a position that you could work at from home.

Castleton Volunteer Fire Company members are the backbone of our department. Castleton Firefighters are essential to protecting the public safety in our community.  They respond to a wide variety of fires including house fires, vehicle fires, and wild fires. Firefighters are trained at our expense and are provided the best equipment available to make their jobs as safe as possible. Members who become firefighters also typically receive training on vehicle extrication and various rope and technical rescue components. 

Positions as firefighters are very flexible. Members are encouraged to volunteer as many hours as they are comfortable with no minimum hours required. All fire and rescue training is paid for entirely by the department including EMT, Firefighting, driver training, and any advanced level courses. The best thing about volunteer fire departments is that we do not require any level of prior experience and encourage members to become well educated in any area. 

EMTs are the basic prehospital healthcare providers. EMTs respond to a variety of emergencies and provide basic emergency medical care to patients until arriving at the emergency room. EMTs are vital  as the majority of our calls are medical. Members certified as EMTs also have the opportunity to attend additional courses to become certified as advanced care providers. 

EMT positions at Castleton are very flexible.  Members are encouraged to volunteer as many hours as they are comfortable but no minimum hours are required. All fire and rescue training is paid for entirely by Castleton Volunteer Fire Company including EMT, Firefighting, driver training, and any advanced level courses. Volunteer fire departments  do not require any level of prior experience and we encourage members to become well educated in any area.

Memory Bears are made for grieving family members from clothing of their loved one. For a grieving person to be able to hug the bear made by a shirt/pajamas of their loved one is deeply healing.  Some bears might wear a special pin, earring or other item which was meaningful to the loved one who has passed.   These bears are made to honor the memory of the loved one and provide a deep comfort to the grieving family members. We know how devastating the loss of a loved one is, the bears help in the grieving process. Capital Caring Health provides end of life care to all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics. We are a non profit who never turns anyone away based on ability to pay.

Assist cat shelter in interviewing potential adoptive families, reviewing applications, checking veterinary and personal references, conducting home visits.  Assist at awareness and adoption events.

Help cat shelter develop and maintain electronic records for its cats; assist with ordering supplies.

We need individuals and families willing to take cats and kittens into their homes to care for and socialize them, helping to make them as adoptable as possible.

Support cat shelter and its community outreach by offering driving services.  Examples include taking cats to veterinary appointments (drop off and pick up); delivering cat food to families in need; picking up donations from the community.

Our yard is in need of your help to maintain the grounds of the lovely John Page Turner Community House. We are in need of rose bush and boxwood pruning and would like suggestions for future plantings and possible Community Garden.

We need your help to conserve Leopold’s Preserve!

What this work entails is walking the trails at the preserve and picking up trash, reporting any issues (like tree fall and where it occurred), and taking photos (can be with your phone or camera!) of anything you see that's interesting. This is an ongoing project and can be done any day of the week for as long you'd like based on how many hours you want to be involved. It is an independent opportunity which allows for greater volunteer flexibility in regards to schedule and ability. 

The only thing we ask is that you keep track of these issues and your time on the Trail Maintenance Log which you can access from any smart phone or internet-connected device. Whether you are a frequent participant or it is a one-time volunteer effort, it is important that you report the results.

Ashes2Art has a request to create a green space at a Fairfax County fire station this month. We would love help designing and building the green space as well as helping with the fine arts aspect. This role is a fun way to get involved at the Warrenton Pregnancy Center.  We have an extensive video and digital education program for new moms-to-be!!  Your job is to get them started in the program, keep them on track, and monitor their progress.  The program has intrinsic learning qualities but is also linked to our "baby boutique" where the moms can receive many material resources as rewards for their commitment to learning.  Our material resources include maternity clothes, car seats, cribs, diapers, formula and amazingly cute baby clothes, among other items!!

The position of PATH Foundation Program Research Volunteer will assist PATH Foundation staff with identifying resources and researching topics requested by staff.

Our animal shelter cares for more than 500 ferrets each year.  We typically have between 50-80 ferrets at any given time.  The amount of effort to provide care and maintenance for these animals is immense and we need help! 

We are seeking volunteers to perform various tasks:  feeding, cleaning, routine health care, socialization, enrichment, rehabilitation, and more.  We also need support at our frequent adoption events. 

The only prerequisite requirement is that you must love animals.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Nirvana Ridge Ferret Rescue is the only facility in Virginia that unconditionally accepts these animals free of charge and provides them the level of quality food, housing, socialization, physical care, and veterinary care that they deserve.  Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that these animals are safe, healthy and happy.   Our goal is to place all ferrets into loving caring homes.  No ferret left behind.

Help a learner with reading, math or social studies. You will be trained and provided with materials for teaching. You can also add in individual lessons that apply to your learner. Our newest learner is 74 years old and wants to be able to read to his grandson!

Our foster families are the backbone of this organization. They provide a much-needed temporary home for a rescued dog or cat until a permanent home is found. The Museum is looking for individuals who are passionate about the U.S. Army and sharing the stories of the men and women who have worn the Army uniform throughout our nation’s history. There will be a variety of volunteer opportunities, such as visitor services, special events, tours, education, gardening, and administration.  We are building a diverse group of volunteers with varied backgrounds and experiences. Specific educational degrees or work experience are not required.  All are encouraged to apply to volunteer!

Roles that we need filled:

Visitor Experience Ambassador:  May include but not limited to:  Scan admission tickets; Greet, orient and assist visitors in the public spaces of the museum and answer questions;  Provide customer service at the front desk in the NMUSA lobby; Assist with crowd control management as required;  Resolve or escalate visitor issues or complaints in accordance with the NMUSA policy; Assist visitors with accessibility issues.; Provide coat check services;  Notify appropriate museum, security, IT, or facility staff of issues as necessary;  Assist with other general functions as needed

Gallery Docent: Gallery Docents are volunteers who will be stationed at specific locations throughout each of the NMUSA galleries. This individual will welcome visitors to that specific area in the gallery, and professionally handle all visitor inquiries. They will ensure that visitors have an in-depth understanding of a specific topic and/or artifact(s), as chosen by the NMUSA Exhibits Staff. Notify appropriate staff (e.g. security, IT, or facility staff) of any issues with the museum as necessary.

Departmental Volunteer: May assist in various departments throughout the Museum, duties may include the following:  Monitor telephone calls; Research and draft answers to Request for Information (RFI);  Assist with various administrative duties;  Assist with departmental special projects.

Outreach Volunteer:  Enhance and assist the design and development of materials to promote the Museum and Museum events/programs to identified communities of interest and provide assistance with distributing the materials to these audiences.  Some events may be offsite from the actual building location. Volunteers may distribute collateral material and promotional goods as boots on the ground advocates to the Museum’s overall mission

Docent Tour Guide:  Docents are volunteers who will provide overarching guided tours of the entire Museum’s exhibits.  They should be able to provide a broad, general history covering each gallery topic, but also specific information to the visitor on individual artifacts and stories.

Experiential Learning Center: Operate the NMUSA Experiential Learning Center and Fort Discover alongside museum professional staff.  Help prepare materials in support of specific events, programs, and activities.  Facilitate activities and craft projects, focused exhibit tours, and help address visitor questions, as needed.

Special Events Volunteers:  Volunteers will provide event support to the special events’ team. Events will range in scale from intimate networking events, meetings, and weddings to larger military gala functions and outdoor events. Specific duties depend on the particular event and may require support in both interior and exterior environment.  Types of support may include but not limited to:  Registration and/or ticketing; general event assistance and event “runners”; parking guides; event set up and tear down.

The Department of Social Work is seeking to recruit volunteer research assistants for a study of the impact of music on dementia in older adults.  Volunteer research assistants must have their own cars to drive to nursing facilities.  The time commitment is two times per week for 3 hours per session for 7 weeks. Start dates will be staggered from mid-April into May and June. A training session for all research assistants will be held in early April.  Each research assistant will be assigned to one nursing facility. At the facility, the volunteer will meet with 3 persons with dementia individually for 60 minutes to help them listen to music that is personal to them. While the person with dementia is listening to the music, the research assistant will observe and record any emotion or behavior changes that occur.  This is a wonderful opportunity to bring joy and pleasure to a group of people who are very ill, while gaining valuable professional experience for a resume.   We will be serving 12 local facilities (within 30 minutes of GMU), and 8 distant facilities (more than 45 minutes from GMU) in Front Royal, Warrenton, Luray, Winchester, Culpeper, and Woodstock.  If interested, please respond to this opportunity and someone will be in touch with you to discuss your availability and desired location.  For more information about our study and to see video of the Music & Memory program, go to musicmem.gmu.edu

These members focus on assisting the department with the various fundraising events that we hold throughout the year, such as our monthly breakfast and our annual Open House. They can also assist with administrative functions within the department. These members are not expected to respond to 911 emergencies but can obtain free CPR training. 

Schedules are flexible, give as much or as little time as you are able to while giving back to your community in a rewarding way!

EMTs are the basic prehospital healthcare providers. EMTs respond to a variety of emergencies and provide care to patients. EMTs are vital in our organization as the vast majority of our calls are medical. Members certified as EMTs also have the opportunity to attend additional courses to become certified as advanced care providers. 

Positions in our department are very flexible as far as hours go. Members are encouraged to volunteer as many hours as they are comfortable with but we do not have minimum hours. All fire and rescue training is paid for entirely by the department including EMT, Firefighting, driver training, and any advanced level courses. The best thing about volunteer departments is that we do not require any level of prior experience and encourage members to become well educated in any area. 

Our firefighters are very important members. Members respond to a wide variety of fires including house fires, vehicle fires, and wild fires. Our firefighters are well trained and provided the best equipment available to make their jobs as safe as possible. Members who become firefighters also typically receive training on things like vehicle extrication and various rope and technical rescue components.

Help cure hunger by volunteering to sponsor a food drive at your school, business, or organization to support The Salvation Army food pantry. The Salvation Army provides valuable meal supplementation while helping those in need in our community maintain their independence and dignity.

Volunteers will be trained in effective communication and use of iPods and other devices used in order to help mentor people suffering with Dementia and Alzheimer's through music and conversation. Volunteers will visit preselected locations and use the already purchased iPods to help engage residents in conversation. The volunteer's will take notes on the responses and reactions given. During this interaction rapport is built, and it encourages cognitive thoughts and responses, and in some cases this can bring back precious times family members may have lost.

Souls in Harmony is seeking volunteers, individuals, and groups to provide Music/Sing alongs at multipleSenior centers. As well as nursing homes in the five county areas as a part of our music outreach program. 

The Fauquier SPCA organizes fundraising events to promote adoptions throughout the year.  These event typically take place on weekends.  Volunteers are needed to help spread the good news about what our shelter does and services we provide.  Though knowledge and training will be provided, good communication skills are a plus. Volunteers help with handling the animals that are taken to these events and assist with light set up and take down responsibilities.

Volunteers who respond to this opportunity, after filling out an application and receiving training, will be placed on an on-call list to be notified when these events occur to determine availability.  Volunteer shifts typically run 3-4 hours. Hours can be flexible and very with each event.

Little Fork Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company supporting members fulfill vital functions related to the operations of the Company, including finances and accounting, communications, and tech support and volunteer a minimum of 48 hours of service a year.

Responsible for working in Noah's Ark Thrift Stores in Bealeton and Marshall locations. Duties include stocking shelves, sorting clothes, pricing merchandise and possible some cashiering. 

Must have good customer service skills, be able to organize merchandise and handle donations from donors. Cashiering experience not necessary. 

Volunteer needed for Noah's Ark Outreach facility. This facility donates free household items, clothing and furniture to the less fortunate. 

Duties include: Organizing furniture, sorting and hanging clothes, helping clients with merchandise requests and keep location clean and tidy. 

Volunteer needed to drive Community Touch, truck 1-3 times a week 2-6 hours a day.

Duties include:  Picking up furniture every Thursday from 9am-4-pm. Dropping trash at dump and small miscellaneous duties involving usage of truck.   Must have valid drivers license and good driving record. Be able to lift up to 40lbs. 

We need you to work in one of our senior centers located in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties! Opportunities vary with each center and the needs of the day and may include helping with day-to-day operations, helping with social activities, assisting at lunchtime and cleanup, or assisting with special projects, fundraising, or events. Centers are open four days a week from 10:00am until 2:00pm.

If you have musical talent or like to teach crafts, perform magic, or otherwise entertain others, we want to hear from you. Our seniors love to learn new things and welcome entertainers!

Our farm is run with just one employee, all other labor comes from volunteers. No experience is required and there is no age limit, however minor age children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is helping with all phases of vegetable production, planting, weeding, harvesting. This is physical work outdoors that requires lifting and walking across uneven ground. Our hours change throughout the year due to weather and different seasonal task. All of the produce we grow is donated to local food banks.

This is a long term project that does not necessarily have to be completed by one person.  We have 2700 Kid Pan Alley recorded songs along with many pictures that need organizing and cataloging.  After having been oriented in the position, this volunteer opportunity could be completely remotely.  Though a musical background is not necessary it may be helpful.  A passion for music is a must.    

We are looking for a board member with an interest in and preferably fund raising experience.

Clara's Faith House Food Pantry is actively looking for volunteers to help distribute food for the less fortunate. The food pantry is open on Saturdays's from 9am to 12pm. Sometimes food needs to picked up a the local Food Lion but is not necessary.
