PATH Resource Center's role in the community is to help Non-Profit businesses build capacity and success toward their  mission.  In this effort, we are looking for community members who possess skills in the area of marketing to provide coaching services on demand, for our non-profit businesses. 

This role is ideal for an experienced marketing professional who is passionate about using their skills to make a social impact and enjoys mentoring others. The Marketing Coach will provide guidance in the areas of overall marketing strategy, branding, and messaging, best practices for digital marketing, email campaigns, and social media, offer feedback on marketing materials and communications, and serve as a thought partner for key initiatives and campaigns.

Interested volunteers will respond to this need and will receive a call for more details and to set up an in person interview with members of the PATH Resource Center.  Coaching services are requested on an individual basis and vetted before enlisting the help of our volunteers skilled in this area. 

PATH Resource Center will provide meeting/office space for our volunteers to engage with non-profits.

In our effort to match community talent with the needs of our non-profit community, PATH is always looking for skilled volunteers who wish to share their time. 

Our volunteer grant writer will assist the PATH Resource Center in their efforts to strengthen non-profit organizations through helping them with the formalization of their grant writing process and reviewing grant applications.

We are in need of volunteers for "Teaching Moments" with our children while their parents attend our weekly life skills class. This is an opportunity to engage with children in ways such as planned group activities. It's only for an hour every week. The need for our shelter location is on Wednesdays from 6pm-7pm and at our Vint Hill Transitional location on Thursdays from 6pm-7pm. This is a wonderful way to give back or earn community service hours all year round. 

Your skills can change a life. We need volunteers with carpentry skills to help senior citizens in Fauquier County with essential home repairs. Whether through laughter during a dog visit or peace of mind from help with pet supplies, Paw Patrol offers more than a service, it offers connection, love, and relief for our community’s Heroes.

Home Front Volunteers improve the quality of life for Veterans by helping maintain safe, functional, and dignified housing. From essential home repairs to general upkeep, volunteers play a critical role in reducing hazards and improving living conditions, often directly impacting a Veteran’s health, morale, and independence.

Home Front Volunteers have helped Veterans across the nation live in safer, cleaner, and more comfortable homes. From big jobs like building ramps to smaller tasks, volunteers restore a sense of pride and safety for those who once served our country. Your service ensures that aging Heroes can remain in their homes with dignity.

Background checks are required for any volunteer who spends time alone with our Veterans, drives our Veterans or has access to our Veterans personal information.

Possible Duties and Responsibilities:

We have in Fauquier County a host of Historic Members of Fauquier's Society and Veteran Graves, located in remote family plots throughout the county.

These Veterans range from the Revolution in 1776, War of 1812, Spanish American War, Civil War, WWI, and even a few from WWII.

The Foundation is seeking Individuals, or Families that will adopt a veterans site, visit it at least twice a year, and mow or do the necessary yard work to keep the cemetery in good order, and notify the Foundation if the site is threatened or there has been damaged by any source.

Members from the Foundation will meet with you and explain what to look for when visiting and what should be done, based on the variables of each site.

Once you have agreed on the adoption,  a reporting schedule will be set and all future visits are on your own time, reporting to the foundation when competed and condition of the site. (Photos welcome)

If the tombstone needs cleaning, or repair the Foundation will assist and supply the appropriate products.  NEVER SCRUB A TOMBSTONE With ANYTHING, Other than your Glove.

We offer free, in person after school tutoring at the John Page Turner House in The Plains. We need tutors at the house 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. We serve elementary, middle, and high school students.

Pick up and Deliver Groceries: As a volunteer, you’ll pick up groceries and deliver them directly to a member’s home. You may help communicate with the store if needed, load and unload bags, and ensure everything gets to the right place.

Prescription Pickup: As a prescription pickup volunteer, you’ll pick up medications from local pharmacies and deliver them to members who can’t easily get there themselves.

Drive to Appointments & Events: As a volunteer, you’ll provide safe, reliable transportation for seniors to medical appointments, wellness visits, and community events.

Different Driving Options:

Use your own car to provide friendly, one-on-one rides for everyday needs like medical appointments, errands, or social outings.

Drive our mini-bus for scheduled group trips or special community events—perfect if you enjoy a social, team-oriented atmosphere.

Help operate or assist with wheelchair-accessible vans, making it possible for members with mobility challenges to get where they need to go safely and with dignity.

Admin & General Support

Our Admin and General Support volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. They ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly and help connect our mission with the people we serve. Whether working behind the scenes or supporting programs directly, these roles are essential to our success. Here’s a list work done in this area:

Board and Committee Work: Serve as a leader and advisor by joining our Board of Directors or one of our committees. These roles help guide the mission, programs, and priorities of our organization. Ideal for those with experience or interest in leadership, planning, or community outreach.

Administrative Mailings: Assist with preparing and sending mailings such as newsletters, event invitations, and informational packets. It’s a simple but important task that helps us stay in touch with members and supporters. Most of the work is done in groups—often with coffee, conversation, and a great sense of camaraderie.

Making Phone Calls:  Occasionally we have some repetitive phone calls to make.  We provide the content, and volunteers can make the calls, either from home or our office.

We provide workshop training on how to teach English to adults and support volunteers with lesson planning. All we ask is a commitment to teach one class a week each quarter (10 weeks except holidays). We have adult learners who would love help learning English so they can improve their lives, connect more fully with their children’s teachers and doctors, and participate more confidently in our community.

We don’t have an actual shelter as we use only foster homes, but we always need handlers for leashed dogs and puppy pen watchers at our adoption events and occasionally for special event.  Adoptions are usually held on Saturdays from 12-3 at Weber’s Pet Supermarket in Chantilly,

A Forever Home (AFH) is a foster-based rescue. We are looking for loving families to care for dogs or pups to help them find that special place called home. SAFE is seeking volunteers to help design and build a covered sandbox for the children's play area at our emergency shelter. This project will provide a safe, clean space for children to play, supporting healing through joyful and creative play in a protected environment. We’re looking for individuals or groups with experience in construction, carpentry, or outdoor projects. Materials can be provided by SAFE, or volunteers may contribute supplies if they choose. Your time and talents will make a lasting impact for the children we serve.

This position is in charge of cleaning litter boxes, sweeping, mopping, etc. along with feeding . There is also plenty of time to play with the cats and kittens! We will have you out to train you then you can come when it fits your schedule

We are looking for Foothills Ambassadors who can help us reach out into the community to help others learn about Foothills Form and gather story ideas people want our journalists to research and write about.

Photographers needed occasionally for sports and event coverage in Rappahannock County and across the region. Also interested in publishing creative, beautiful and interesting photography inspired by the landscape, nature and people in our corner of Virginia.

Researchers needed for ongoing reporting projects.  Knowledge of Rappahannock County and surrounding areas a must.  Good writing skills desired, but not necessary.  Willing to accommodate varying levels of experience with research and reporting.  

Do you love a hands-on approach with helping children? Are you looking for a rewarding way to give back? Homework Club is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4pm-5:30pm. For children in our shelter. For K-12 students only. This is an all-year program. 

Do you have a helpful and handy pair of hands aching to be put to good use? Family Shelter Services is looking for support in facility maintenance and upkeep from hanging blinds, cleaning and organizing to minor repairs, carpentry and painting walls. Opportunities based on your time limitations and ability. Support is needed at both our Temporary Shelter in Warrenton and Transitional Housing Community in Vint Hill.

Volunteer to teach life-skill classes to our Emergency Shelter and Vint Hill Transitional participants. The Care-A-Van is our transport service that transports dogs and cats to our clinic partners for low-cost spay/neuter services. The cost of these services is offered to our community on a sliding scale, based on income. We do three transports per month one for dogs, one for cats and one for cats from our trap/neuter/release cat colonies.

Help the Cedar Mountain Battlefield staff their visitor center and small museum. Volunteers greet visitors, provide brief overview of historic battlefield and park trails, help sell merchandise in gift shop, and provide welcoming atmosphere for visitors to the small museum. Volunteer activities will be conducted inside the visitor center and may require periods of sitting or standing. Volunteer shifts are Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Sunday from 11:00 am - 4:00 PM. Half days shifts are 3 hours and full day shifts are 6 hours. Key Responsibilities:

The Land Trust of Virginia is looking for individuals to distribute our newsletters primarily around Loudoun and Fauquier Counties, to places that you frequently visit that offer other free local papers (i.e. coffee shops, restaurants, doctors' and dentists' waiting rooms, etc.)

We produce our newsletters two times a year and would love to get them into the hands of more people than just those we mail them to. Would be fun to do with a spouse or friend --- map out a route, or carry with you to distribute during your daily activities, and help us get the word out about land conservation!

Hi, we need people that are able and willing to come to the center and set it up on Monday and Wednesday mornings.  We have cafeteria style tables and heavy chairs with arms that must be put out so the seniors may have a place to sit and eat.  There are 6 tables that fold and are on wheels and approximately 35 chairs with arms.  This task usually takes approximately 30 mins to complete

Patient care is our number one priority at Capital Caring Health. Patients need care at all hours of the day. Our nurses, social workers, and other clinical staff need to be able to get to these patients at all times, even in a blizzard!

Home Care Boutique Volunteers run the operations of the boutique in the hospital. You would have the opportunity to fit patients for wigs and prosthetics. If you like retail and costumer service, this may be the opportunity for you.

Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center in Haymarket, VA, is a very special place that serves children and adults with physical, developmental, and mental health disabilities from all around northern Virginia.

Each week, approximately 70 students come to us for equine assisted activities, from Tuesday through Saturday, learning how to ride and take care of their horses.

Riders with mental health challenges develop emotional regulation and coping strategies, helping them manage anxiety and stress more effectively; riders with physical disabilities experience increased motor skills, better balance, and coordination through structured riding activities, which help foster greater independence in daily life; and all our students develop increased confidence and resilience as they bond with horses and engage in goal-oriented tasks.

The supportive environment we nurture at Rainbow encourages social interaction, reduces feelings of isolation, and benefits the wider community by fostering inclusivity and better understanding.

Our team of six PATH Intl. Certified Instructors plan and supervise each lesson, but every single session needs the help of one or more volunteers; they are the backbone of our program. Last year, our volunteers dedicated 2,000 hours of time to our equine therapy program.

Our primary volunteer need is for Horse Leaders. Their role is to tack up and prepare our horses for their lesson, lead them during it, and take care of them afterwards. Leaders should be experienced horse people who are able to read a horse’s body language, control their own energy and body language, have good communication and listening skills, and physically be able to walk and/or trot.

Students may also have one, two, or more volunteers acting as side walkers, who support them physically and emotionally dependent on their individual needs. Rainbow students form a bond with their team and it’s beneficial for them to see regular faces, week in, week out. That’s why we ask our volunteers to try to commit to a regular time slot each week, during a day and time that works for them.

We value all our volunteers, whether they come to us for a couple of hours per week, or a couple of afternoons as some do. This position is perfect for someone who is quick at opening cans of cat food because the cats know what time it is, and they're waiting! We put down trays of can food, refill dry food bowls, and refresh the water bowls so the cats are ready to party all night long and make a mess for the next crew. This shift takes approximately 1-2 hours. Afternoon shifts typically start at 3:30 but can be later if that fits your schedule better. You pick the day and time to fit your schedule.

Front Desk Volunteers are needed for morning and/or afternoon shifts on Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays. Duties include: opening and/or closing the Museum, greeting and assisting visitors, and carrying out admissions and gift shop transactions.

The Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is comprised of community members and health care professionals who donate their time and skills to support public health initiatives and provide assistance in emergencies. The Front Desk Assistants help the front desk staff by escorting patients to different parts of the hospital.
