Volunteer: Admin TasksVolunteer Administrative Support The Culpeper Literacy Council is seeking friendly, dependable volunteers to assist with general office operations and help create a welcoming environment for our adult learners, instructors, and visitors. Our office operates Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening classes are held Monday through Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. We will coordinate volunteer schedules based on each person’s availability and the organization’s needs. Volunteers may assist regularly or during busy periods, and training and guidance will be provided. Volunteer activities may include: Answering the office phone and taking accurate messages Greeting students, instructors, volunteers, and visitors Assisting learners with registration forms during enrollment periods Organizing files, classroom materials, office supplies, and educational resources Making copies and preparing materials for instructors Helping maintain attendance records and basic program information Contacting students with class reminders or schedule updates Assisting with volunteer scheduling and coordination Helping prepare classrooms and common areas for evening classes Greeting and checking in evening students as they arrive Providing support to instructors and students during evening classes Securing and locking the building after evening classes Providing general support during orientations, registrations, meetings, and special events Completing other light administrative tasks as needed Preferred qualities: Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable working with the public Dependable and organized Able to protect private student and organizational information Comfortable using a telephone, email, and basic office equipment Patient and respectful when working with adults from different backgrounds Willing to ask questions and follow established office and closing procedures No previous nonprofit or administrative experience is required. We will work with each volunteer to identify tasks and hours that fit their interests, comfort level, and availability.
