Fauquier Habitat for Humanity has an ongoing need for Partner Advocates.  

Partner Advocates are matched with a Partner Family (adult members) and work directly with the family to provide support and counsel through the first year of home ownership. Educational opportunities for the families include:

Finance, managing a budget Applying for a mortgage Home maintenance Community Resources, being a good neighbor Receiving guidance and encouragement as they fulfill their responsibilities to Habitat.

Partner Advocates provide support, encouragement and direction in these areas.

Partner Advocate Commitment:

Weekly or bi-weekly communication with the Partner Family Attend and participate in monthly Advocate meetings - 1 hour Attend and participate with Partner Family in monthly Partner Home Ownership Classes – 1 hour

This opportunity is for a Cashier/Customer service volunteer, to work at the sales counter and on the sales floor to assist customers through both the purchase and donation process. Below are some common tasks that may be performed. 

Greet customers and answer questions with a smile Operate the cash register, including handling cash, check, and credit card transactions Answer phone calls Record donations

Welcome Restore visitors Guide customers through shopping experience by answering questions and guiding them to the correct department Assist customers through the purchase process in coordination with the cashier Maintain organization and cleanliness of aisles and merchandise Arrange/create attractive displays to increase sales

Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal skills/friendliness  Knowledge of building materials and home improvement is a plus, but not required Ability to stay on feet for extended period of time Ability to work in a warehouse environment Willingness to help a diverse customer base Self-motivated Outgoing personality Ability to lift 25 pounds Willingness to learn and communicate Habitat’s mission to ReStore visitors

We are looking for a few skilled crew leaders. 

Are you:

in need of construction management skills to build your resume? an experienced builder that wants to share your knowledge with others?

Leadership of volunteers on the construction site is critical to completing our home builds on budget. Crew leader volunteers will be trained to assist Construction Manager in leading and training construction volunteers as well as learning and passing on the mission of Fauquier Habitat. In addition, they will provide direct supervision of projects and ensure that goals established by the Fauquier Habitat Construction staff are achieved.  ****Applicants will be interviewed and evaluated prior to being assigned to this volunteer role. 

Reports To: 

Construction Project Manager (CPM) and Assistant Construction Superintendent 

Responsibilities: 

Maintain site safety through modeling of safety practices and guidelines as dictated by OSHA and the Fauquier Habitat Construction Staff  Teach and lead a crew of 2-10 volunteers of varying experience levels on any given component of the building process  Provide positive guidance and supportive communication to the volunteers  Assist CPM with logistics of preparation for the work day i.e, where to report, (warehouse or job), loading of materials, tools and equipment on FHFH work vehicle, and be responsible to use FHFH vehicle for the day’s work.  Assist with all aspects of the home building process, and ensure that each house is constructed according to the approved plans and all sustainable building program requirements that FHFH has registered and committed to completing for certification(s).   Assist in loading and unloading of building materials and tools on site as needed  Properly maintain all tools and equipment and immediately report any losses or damages to the CPM  Lead in organized work habits and clean-up on assigned task, Coordinate and assist with set-up for the next work day and leading clean-up of entire site at end of day 

Time Commitment: 

Commit to leading volunteer crews as available, necessary, and scheduled at least twice a month to be considered active  Arrive early to the build location to prepare for volunteers  

Training:  

On Site training by Construction Staff or paid Sub-contractors, as scheduled  Training will focus on providing optimum experience on the build sites for all volunteers as well as job site safety 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Positive team player with ability to motivate and lead  Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time  Ability to bend, squat, lift and make repetitive motions  Be willing to work outside

Activities might include public speaking (or helping us find that one person who loves talking) and leading discussions of Habitat's goals and activities, keeping the church committee active/ engaged and coordinating the participation of individual congregations.

 

 

 

A ReStore Donation & Sales Processor works with staff to:

Assist with donation drop off and pick-ups- Unloading and staging of items Thank donors and record their contact information Inspect, clean, and test incoming donations Assess market pricing Package, label, and price incoming donations for sale Optional: Establish community partnerships to increase quality, donated goods.

Excellent interpersonal skills: Friendly and helpful attitude Self-motivated Willingness to help a diverse customer base Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to work in a warehouse environment Ability to stay on feet for an extended period of time Willingness to learn and communicate Habitat’s mission to the public
