Volunteer: Help Make Healthy Strawberry Ice Pops for Fauquier County SchoolsJoin the Carver Food Enterprise Center for a hands-on volunteer event that transforms locally grown strawberries into nutritious ice pops for students in Fauquier County Public Schools. Volunteers will work alongside Food Enterprise Center Staff to wash, trim, blend, and portion strawberries into refreshing frozen treats that will be served through the school nutrition program. This project helps connect local agriculture with school meals while providing students with a healthy snack made from fresh Virginia-grown produce. No prior food service experience is necessary. Volunteers will receive instruction on food safety procedures and will assist with a variety of kitchen tasks in our commercial kitchen. This is a great opportunity to learn about large-scale food production, support local farmers, and make a direct impact on children's access to healthy foods. By the end of the event, volunteers will have helped produce approximately 509 strawberry smoothie ice pops that will be served to students in Fauquier County Public Schools.
