Who We Are

Founded in 2014 as a cooperative effort by the Remington UM Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service, the Remington Community Garden was funded by a Make It Happen grant from the PATH Foundation. Our mission is to help people grow fresh, healthy food and to bring the community together.

What We Do

We provide 35 garden plots to individuals for growing their own food. We use 5 of those plots to grow fresh vegetables that are given away to the community. We have frequent family-oriented events featuring live music, games, food, crafts - all designed to encourage our community spirit. As a result of the pandemic and growing food insecurity, in conjunction with RUMC we added a Little Free Pantry to address the food shortages in our community, giving away over 200 lbs of food each week. We also provide a Little Free Veggie Steps during the summer to give away fresh produce.
