Who We Are

The Arc of North Central Virginia is a local chapter of the world’s largest community-based organization of and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve the 5-county area of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.  We're committed to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their full potential through building community awareness, acceptance and capacity for support, ensuring that they are valued as classmates, coworkers, neighbors, citizens and friends. Our services include offering family consults, hosting family programs and events, developing local informational resources, and partnering with local organizations building connections and capacity for support.

What We Do

ArcConnect:

Direct in-person, telephone, and email support is available for individuals and families who need information and referrals to service providers.

Host Family Programs and Events:

Educational and social programs offer critical information and build connections for people with IDD and their families.  Some examples include Parent Cafes, Family Picnics, and Educational Forums.

Develop Local Resources:

Targeted directories, videos, and reference documents help families access local supports and services, and build community acceptance of people with DD in our area.

Partner with Other Local Organizations:

Partnerships with other public and private organizations in our area increases opportunities, optimizes resources, and broadens awareness of The Arc’s mission throughout our community.

Collaborate with Other Arc Chapters:

As one small chapter in the expansive Arc network, participating in local and regional Arc conferences, activities, and advocacy efforts amplifies The Arc of NCV’s voice on behalf of individuals with DD, and increases its effectiveness as an organization.
