Join staff from The Piedmont Environmental Council to plant native trees and shrubs as part of our Thumb Run Backyard Habitat program!
We will be focused on installing live plant material that will help to improve water quality and benefit habitat for pollinators and wildlife. We have all the materials needed including tools, gloves, water, and snacks.
Several conservation staff will be on the site to provide instruction on planting methods, safety talk, and to answer questions about the project and the larger restoration efforts taking place across the region.
This project requires volunteers to work in and around a stream and pond. There will be rocks, mud, and water. Please wear appropriate clothing that can get dirty and wet and waders/rubber boots.
Planting will likely run from 9:30am - 1:00pm (depending on how many volunteers we get).
All participants must complete and sign a waiver. **Any participate under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
