Description

Spend a morning volunteering with PEC caring for a native plant demonstration garden at Powers Farm and Brewery in Midland (Fauquier)!

We will be weeding and maintaining a planting of native perennials, grasses, trees and shrubs on the farm that provide habitat for pollinators and songbirds. This demonstration project showcases plants that homeowners can use on their properties to provide forage for bees, butterflies and birds.

Volunteers should be able to lift up to 20lbs, spend time kneeling and digging, and willing to follow direction. Water, gloves and tools will be provided, but volunteers should bring personal protective gear such as hats, boots, sunscreen and bug spray (if desired). Volunteers should be prepared to be in hot sun; the project will be rescheduled if weather is inclement. Knowledge of native plants not required-- just a good attitude and willingness to learn basic gardening concepts!

Children are welcome if accompanied by a guardian.
