Lettuce Feed Our Neighbors

Description

Join us on April 1st at noon to kick off Volunteer Month and learn more about volunteering at the Fauquier Education Farm. We'll have some barbeque for a bit of lunch and then jump in to help us plant thousands of lettuce and onion plants. Everything grown at the Education Farm gets donated to area food banks. In 2022 we donated over 105,000 lbs of high quality fresh produce to food banks throughout Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper and Prince William counties, and the vast majority of our labor came from volunteers of all ages. Minors do need to be accompanied by an adult at all times, but otherwise we don't have any age limits. We do ask that parents of really young ones please work closely with your child to be sure they are helping our efforts.

All you need to bring is a willingness to help feed your neighbors in need, and be sure to wear shoes that can get dirty, or even muddy depending on the weather. Gloves might be a good idea but are not required. It's easy work and no experience is required.
