The Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. wants to have meaningful engagement between the community and the cancer patients of Fauquier County.
Annually we review the cancer population of Fauquier County and partner with the health care providing care to them.
We will partner with the Virginia Cancer Specialist, who provides care at the Fauquier Health Cancer Center Building located at 210 West Shirley Avenue, Suite 111, Warrenton, Virginia 20186.
This year we have chosen to support the Fauquier County Breast Cancer patients. Their treatment plan may include chemotherapy, radiation, and or surgery. Their treatment plans maybe once or twice a week for a 4- 6-week course. This does not include sequential visits for infusion, further evaluation, and treatment.
They may feel tired, weak, exhausted, and not able to cook. Sometimes cooking can cause them to be nauseated and even sicker than before.
They may even have sores in their mouth and throats and will have difficulty swallowing solid food. They also need positive encouragement and activities which will be relaxing.
We plan to prepare 50 gift boxes for the cancer patients treated by the Virginia Cancer Specialist. The gift boxes will be given to them during a treatment appointment.
We would like to have 6 to 8 volunteers to help with organizing the items, setting up the assembly line, putting the items in the boxes, sealing the boxes, and place them on carts, and delivering them to the Virginia Cancer Specialist located
