Native plants provide better food and shelter for insects and birds than non-native plants. At Clifton, we use native species in our plantings, we distribute native seedlings to the public, and we are working on a project to launch the native seed industry in Virginia. April is a great time to get seedlings in the ground and we are looking for volunteers to help plant plugs in a wildflower meadow we have been working on establishing for the last couple of years. This is a great chance to get outside on our stunning property in a beautiful time of year.
