Habitat is a “hand-up” not a handout. Our partner families also invest hundreds of hours of labor known as “sweat equity” into building their homes and the homes of others. When completed, Fauquier Habitat sells the homes to the families through an affordable mortgage. The payments go into a revolving fund to build more houses.Partner families are truly vested in their homes–by helping to build them and by taking classes to ensure they are successful homeowners.
