Habitat for Humanity is joining in the Rappahannock Neighbors Helping Neighbors event on November 9th and would love if you'd join us!
Modeled after successful community service days in Culpeper and Madison Counties, Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a county-wide initiative to recruit volunteers to perform needed repairs on homes of elderly and low-income residents in Rappahannock County. Sign up by clicking here!
Examples of work to be done include minor carpentry projects, painting, cleaning gutters, trimming hedges, and hauling trash. Work teams—including adult team leaders and teenage volunteers—will meet for breakfast at the Washington Fire Hall at 8:00 am, after which they will receive their assignments, get organized, and disperse to their project sites by 9:00 am. Bagged lunches will be provided, and work should be completed by early afternoon.
There are several ways to participate in this first ever county-wide home repair initiative. Team leaders—especially those with home improvement or building skills—are needed, as well as others—especially teens—willing to contribute their time and energy to this community service project. In addition, help will be needed preparing and serving breakfast, and preparing and packing lunches.
