Description

Since 2015, Rapp at Home (RaH) has helped older adults in Rappahannock live safely and independently at home, for as long as they choose. As a nonprofit senior village, we offer

practical services, enriching programs, and a strong sense of community to support aging in place. Our most crucial services for our Friends (as we like to call our members) continue to be: transportation, home safety, social connection, and access to healthcare. At the heart of our programs are volunteers; they generously share their time and talents to lift one another up and strengthen the fabric of our rural community.

As we look ahead to our second decade, we have much to celebrate, and much opportunity to further develop as a dependable, robust resource in our community. Our goal is to become a more resilient organization that our County’s older adults can count on for the years to come. Improving our strategic communications will be an important part of achieving that goal

Therefore, we seek a volunteer strategic communications advisor to help us with the following:

  • Audit & Strategy: Conduct an audit of current communication channels (newsletter, website, social media,) and help devise a 12-month communication roadmap for both internal and external communications and engagement.

  • Help coordinate promotional campaigns for multiple, specific activities (Fit for Life Fall series, Caregiver support workshops, etc.)

  • Messaging Framework: Develop "Value Proposition" scripts for different audiences: potential members, donor prospects, and volunteer recruits.

  • Brand Consistency: Maintain a unified tone of voice that is professional, warm, and accessible.

This may also include, depending on availability and interest

Template Creation: Build "Plug-and-Play" templates in Canva so the Rapp at Home team can send updates without limited support from the Advisor.

Social Media Management: Support team to maintain a consistent presence on platforms relevant to the community (primarily Facebook).

High-Value Storytelling: writing regular high-quality feature story that can be used for both the newspaper and donor outreach.

Mentorship: Provide regular advisory sessions to the board chair and executive director as they execute the strategy.
